Houston Rodeo Part 1

On Saturday the 13th, Melissa and me (along with my parents) took a trip down to Houston for the Rodeo. Why? My nephew Chris had been chosen to participate in the calf scramble and there was no way that I was going to miss it. We had an absolute blast and Melissa was so good! Chris didn't catch a calf (although he tried hard!), but showed great sportsmanship when he helped another boy by pushing his calf to try and get it inside the square. We were so proud of him!

Here we are riding the tram from the parking lot.

One of our first stops - the Petting Zoo!

After meeting up with Jennifer, Brandon, Chris, Andrew, and Andrew's friend, we grabbed a bite for lunch and walked around to see a few more things. Pa-pa, Melissa, and I went outside to the children's area that was set up. They had this neat area where we walked through with our basket, learning about wool, eggs, vegetables, etc. At the end, we sold our products that we had "farmed" and got money, which we could then use to "buy" something in the store (juice box, raisins, etc.) Melissa chose cheese crackers.

Planting our "seed" to grow a pepper plant. She loved this since it involved playing in the dirt:
